If someone gives exceptional service and you are happy with your experience, feel free to give tips of what ever you want. There is no rule here other than I have noticed fellow Mexicans are a lot less generous than Canadians and Americans.

What are the gasoline prices like?

Gas stations in Mexico are called Pemex after the National Oil company in Mexico. Over the last year in Veracruz the price has been between 66 and 67 cents per litre. As you can see, filling up in Veracruz is less intimidating, allowing you to put some miles on the odometer without making you wince.

What methods of Transportation are available?

Rental cars, every major rental company represented, City bus, Charter bus, Taxi (available from airport right to the beach).

What to pack?

Be sure to pack sunscreen, as in all Tropical locations you may need bug repellant, comfortable foot wear appropriate for the activities you intend to do, breathable natural fabrics such as cotton, beach towel or mat. If traveling to Veracruz December through February you may need a light jacket for the evenings. Another reminder to leave any weapons however small at home (some fishing tackle is considered weapons) along with any contraband.

When are the Best times to go?

Anytime. Veracruz City is very busy with both International Tourists and Domestic tourists during Christmas and New Years, Easter/Spring Break, and International Carnival (Late January early February). You will find Luggage embargo (limits) on extra baggage, boxes, parcels, or overweight luggage from Nov. 15 to Feb. 15

Entering Veracruz Puerto by Sea?

Should you arrive by boat into Veracruz Harbor you will be subject to search and or inspection by Coast Guard and Port authority.

Can I Drive to Mexico/Veracruz from Canada & USA?

Absolutely! You will need a valid Passport and or VISA (FM3, FM2), and do not bring Dangerous goods, weapons, contraband, eg. Illegal drugs. Vehicles and personal articles are subject to search. Be honest in your declarations.

What to expect at Customs?

Mexican customs agents are required to speak both Spanish and English. Customs Agents in the Airport of Veracruz are friendly and helpful in getting through the process of getting your declaration form stamped. All luggage both carry on and checked bags are X-Rayed and suspicious bags are opened and examined with you present.

Do I need Shots?

You do not need shots to travel to Mexico. We do suggest you visit your doctor at least 8 weeks before you visit to discuss your plans and make sure your immunizations are up to date. Entry Requirements?

Valid Passport and/or Valid FM3 or FM2 The FM2 or FM3 are types of residency documents. When traveling abroad, make sure you have a photocopy of your passport in a safe place at home just in case you lose your original.
